State Bar of Wisconsin

The State Bar of Wisconsin is a mandatory professional association, created by the Wisconsin Supreme Court, for all attorneys who hold a Wisconsin law license. With more than 25,000 members, the State Bar aids the courts in improving the administration of justice, provides continuing legal education and other services for its members, supports the education of law students, and educates the public about the legal system. The State Bar of Wisconsin also provides public services, including attorney referrals, public education and reduced-fee legal assistance for low-income state residents.

Although it was created by the Supreme Court, the State Bar is not a state agency and its operations are not supported with tax revenues. Instead, the private association is supported by member dues and earned revenues (e.g., from the sale of books, legal seminars, and other products). The State Bar does not license or discipline attorneys. These and related activities are administered by separate state agencies.

International Practice Section

The International Practice Section is devoted to issues affecting the international practice of law, promoting an understanding of and expertise in public and private international law, monitor relevant legislative and judicial developments, and provides a forum for the exchange of ideas among practitioners, academics and law students interested in international law and practice.

The State Bar of Wisconsin offers its members the opportunity to network with other lawyers who share a common interest through its 24 sections. Learn more at http://www.wisbar.org/groups.

Madison International Trade Association

Madison International Trade Association (MITA) is a Wisconsin-based organization that began in 1979 with a simple goal to assist Wisconsin businesses to succeed in international trade. Our initial vision endures today as MITA offers a forum for connecting people and providing global knowledge and resources to its members.

We are focused on providing current, relevant and vital global trade information to the organizations and individuals looking to expand their international reach. We do this by producing quality programming with subject experts from around the country. From trade agreements to export documentation to economic trends, and hot topics, MITA keeps its members informed and engaged.

While MITA started in Madison, Wisconsin, it has expanded its membership and reach beyond Wisconsin to serve companies in neighboring Midwestern states.
