The Audio/Visual Information System (SEGBIS)
Taking the statement of any party as well as witnesses by a public prosecutor, judge or court during due process, SEGBIS introduced under the National Judicial Network Project (UYAP) has been entirely using among Courthouses. The “Regulation on the Usage of the Audio/Visual Information System in Criminal Procedure” aiming at establishing the conditions of recording and storing the statements taken came into force on the date of 20 September 2011.
The SEGBIS provides the opportunity to have hearing statements, interrogating witnesses and recording them of whom are outside the local/regional jurisdiction of the court or the public prosecutor’s office. Hearing of the anonymous witness through the SEGBIS instead of a rogatory procedure as in the instant case will ensure to ask questions to the parties.
Effective use
At the present time, this system is effectively used in the courts for taking statements, including those of undercover witnesses. In order to effectively use the SEGBIS, SEGBIS devices at courts and SEGBIS devices at penitentiary institutions have currently been installed.
We are actively using e-trial systems such as SEGBIS and UYAP . Our lawyers can access the results of execution proceedings and e-case by online connecting to the UYAP-website. In their authority, they can examine open and closed cases by the power of attorney.
Our lawyers are entitled to take a sample from the case file in question, send documents using electronic signature, access to phases, request the date of the trial, open a new file case and pay online fees and expenses. They can immediately get the information about the other party, such as the debtor’s address.
